Bob Davey died on 4th March 2021 at the age of 91. He was for many years the driving force and power behind the restoration of St Mary's Houghton on the Hill. Indeed, if it wasn't for his dedication to St Mary's and that particular project, the wall paintings which are now of international renown would never have been discovered. He was full of joy whenever he was talking about his beloved St Mary's. There was no such thing as a 'quick tour' when he was in full flow. Bob’s restoration work at St Mary's received wide recognition and acclaim, winning a prestigious award for its restoration (shared with Windsor Castle after its fire), while Bob himself was made an MBE in recognition of that work. Among his many interests Bob was also churchwarden at South Pickenham, to which St Mary’s was affiliated.
Please pray for his son, Brian, and the wider family.
